Aion has been named best online game at Gamescom 2009, not only for MMO but for all online games.

To celebrate the upcoming launch, NCSoft has also announced that players will be able to call upon the Aion wings emote within the Guild Wars games. Players that purchase the Aion Collector's Edition, Limited Steelbook Edition or Standard Edition will receive the emote that displays the wings from Aion in Guild Wars. These wings will remain in the players account forever, but are only available in limited numbers.

The game will be released on September 23rd, and can be pre-ordered from EB Games, GAME and JB JHifi.

We've got a new video of the game, which you can download here. (Quicktime - 6Mb)

You can find more details on the wings promotion over on the Guild Wars website.

So.....I like Aion so much that I pay extra money so I can use an emote from it in another, almost identical and entirely competitive MMORPG franchise?

OH MAN I LOVE HYPE AND NOVELTY THIS GAME IS SURELY THE WOW KILLER.

Yeah, I don't think so. Last I checked, they hadn't even worked out proper swimming physics and you could simply walk underwater. Just screams cheap Korean MMO to me, except you have to pay for it.

The graphics look pretty badass though, much MUCH better than WoW - and not as cartoonish, though a little too FF for my taste.

At any rate, if they can get a decent combat, leveling and itemisation system down - I'd give it a crack. Plate armor and wings that'd make Tyrael himself envious, that's a good combo! (I mean, look at my Ava ffs).

You should see some of the Aion press releases we don't put up.
