Welcome to the future, everybody. This 3D thing really is sticking around, and from June 10th (tomorrow in the US), 3D capable versions of Super Stardust HD (full game) and WipEout HD (full game), MotorStorm: Pacific Rift (demo) and PAIN will be available for download off the PSN. Of course, you need your first-generation, high-priced 3DTV, but all PS3s should have the requisite firmware if you keep up to date with that sort of thing.

As an incentive, Sony's Bravia division is offering vouchers to download all four of the above for free with each new TV purchase. So, uh, that'll save you a couple of bucks.

Wouldn't call first gen 3DTVs "high-priced". Samsung's lower models start at $3,500au - considering first gen plasmas were $20,000 3D is comparatively cheap.

As for the Sony offer, do they honestly expect to bring in customers with that? I mean, I know they're doing their annual end of financial year PS3 deal atm, but even so "buy a 3.5k plus extras tv and get $100 worth of value-questionable content free" - score!

It's more like "buy a 3.5k TV and have some actual 3D content to watch on it", if you ask me. Looks like Sony are being slow in any case, I don't see any 3D updates on the PSN store.

Apparently Batman Arkham Asylum was 3D.. this customer I had was 100% sure of it but I didn't believe him. Turns out there was some truth behind his claim though, the GOTY version has 3D tech.

This sounds lke a smart idea, publishers could re-release their most recent big titles as GOTY with 3D compat and I think it would sell pretty well. The market may be new, but I think the buzz around 3D TV has been more successful than blu-ray when it first came out.

I like the idea of it without ever having tried it.

I wanna give it a go, I've seen a monitor based 3D thing, the z-monitor, running Crysis and Far Cry 2 and that was actually pretty cool. But I think the Nvidia glasses solution is supposed to work better, and 'cause I didn't wanna fork out for another monitor (needs to be at least 100hz) it just didn't happen.

So, chances are, I'll get there eventually. I do think some games could be mega cool with it.

I'm completely stoked about 3D gaming, but I'll wait for the bugs to be ironed out. I just see it being a long time before it really comes to fruition.

I don't think there's as much buzz around 3D as there was HD though MC. At any rate - I'm still waitin/praying for VR, matrix style ^_^

i had 3d glasses with my very first nvidia geforce - i NEVER used them.
the only way 3d gaming is going to get accepted imho, is if they do the same technology as the no-glasses tv's. you shouldnt have to have another peripheral cluttering up the place.

True Zen - I didn't know they had 3DTVs that didn't require glasses - though it would make sense to invest in the idea.

Just like the 3DS I guess. I imagine it's a more expensive tech than glasses-less 3D on a large scale.

I gotta say; I'm pumped for when it works really well. You see stuff in 3D normally, even if you kind of forget, so I don't see why people have an issue with having 3D displays.

I reckon the first 3D OS will be very cool. Like windows with depth.
