3D Realms' Reign Comes To An End
PC
The gaming punchline that is Duke Nukem Forever may finally be abandoned after news today that its developer, 3D Realms, seems to be shutting its doors. Phone calls and emails to the developer have gone unanswered, while over on Shacknews, they've seemingly received confirmation from the team's webmaster that their initial source about the closure was correct. Apparently, all employees were let go.
Take-Two Interactive has made a short statement to say that they still retain publishing rights to Duke Nukem Forever, but with 3D Realms seemingly collapsing under financial pressures, a release for that game seems as far away as ever. Apogee Software, an external subsidiary company, and Deep Silver, who together were publishing the Duke Nukem Trilogy portable titles, were unaffected.
