A Bit More Revolution Controller Information

The controller for Nintendo's next console, codenamed the 'Revolution' is supposed to be, well, revolutionary. Frankly, if the decision Nintendo makes is out there, it may make or break the company.

Here are a few for little things to get you thinking. A while back, Nintendo heavily invested in Gyration, a corporation that has been developing gyroscopes for use in computer products. For example, they have developed a mouse that is not only wireless and optical, but also works in the air. A gyroscope, by the way, is a device consisting of a spinning mass mounted on a base that can turn freely and recognise changes in direction.

Do you remember when you watched someone pick up a controller for the first time, and they leaned left and pulled on the controller while steering? Perhaps this is similar to how we will really control things on the Revolution.

Another startling claim is that Nintendo's Revolution controller will be a bit lacking in certain areas. Like, for instance, in the D-pad and A/B buttons. Recent reports have rumoured that there will be no D-pad, which is no real big deal anyway. Control sticks are the way of the future. But no A or B buttons? They got the four button, kidney shaped layout perfectly on the Gamecube, so it seems strange that they would suddenly abandon it.
