Aion, a fantasy MMORPG from NCsoft, the makers of Guild Wars, City of Heroes/Villains and the ill-fated Tabula Rasa, will launch in Australia this Spring. The game debuted in South Korea late last year, and then in China in early 2009, and has over 3.5 million players.

Set in the world of Atreia, in the midst of an ancient celestial war, Aion features over 1500 story-based quests, and allows gamers to pick between two divine factions - the Asmodians and the Elyos. The game lets you customise your avatar down the minutiae of your face shape, and body type. Flight is a huge part of the game, in both of exploration and harvesting, as well as in combat. Between the upper and lower levels of Atreia lies the Abyss, an hotly contested zone that is also home to the ancient Balaur race.

Aion has already achieved massive success within the Asian online gaming community and we are really excited to be bringing this game to the Australian market," said Paul Elliot, Managing Director at QVS International.

We'll be keeping an eye on the game over the coming months, so stay tuned. Go ahead and check out the two screenshots we've got, too.

I actually didn't mind Guild Wars etc. ( not that I really got into them as much as say for eg WoW) so I'll more than likely  keep an eye out for this one as well.

The game in general seems to have a good vibe about it - Must admit I tire of WoW, and would rather something a little more graphically pleasing, and more realistic looking / feeling. (It's not until I see SS of these kinda games that I realise just how cartoonish the game's graphics really are).

With that being said, WoW has such an awesome backstory that I know off by heart now - it would be harsh starting again. If Aion features well developed lvln & itemisation, as well as a decent combat engine, I may have to fork out for a copy.
