Alan Wake seems to be the Xbox 360's Heavy Rain - an atmospheric thriller that pushes graphical boundaries. You play as Alan Wake, a best-selling suspense author suffering from writer’s block, who holidays to the small town of Bright Falls with his fiancée, who unexpectedly disappears. The game is mission-based and features a suspenseful storyline unveiling new twists and character revelations at every turn, akin to shows like Twin Peaks or X-Files.

With deep character interactions, problem-solving and combat against shadow enemies, Alan Wake looks like it will deliver quite a cinematic atmosphere. As you battle the fantastical monsters, you'll have to use light itself as a weapon in tandem with more traditional armaments. The constantly changing daylight and weather of the town can be as much a hindrance as an aid.
