Sony excitedly announced this morning that two franchises that were previously PS3-only will debut on the PSP this year: MotorStorm and LittleBigPlanet. Buzz!: Brain of Oz is also coming to the platform, as we already detailed last week. They also revealed that we can expect some new colours for the system, which to date has mostly been available in black and white.

After a dusty desert and a tropical island, the obvious next location for the series is the snow. MotorStorm: Arctic Edge will bring the the frantic off-road racing game to its most remote setting yet. Less was said about LittleBigPlanet, but it appears that the level editor and community sharing will remain intact in the transfer. When you think about it, the controls should translate with ease.

“There are a lot of big claims in the gaming industry but we’re confident when we say that 2009 is going to be an exciting year for PSP,” said Raoul Bedford, Marketing Director, SCE Australia. “Our fans have demanded big PSP titles and this year, we’re going to deliver again and again. With Buzz! Brain of Oz and Resistance: Retribution soon to be on their way to stores, PSP gamers can expect one big franchise after another.”
