Bioshock, coming to an iPhone near you! No, this isn't a joke, an interesting piece of news has come through from the recent BREW (Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless) 2008 show. Can a sophisticated first person shooter like Bioshock really work well on a mobile phone? Well, the developer IG Fun has accepted the challenge of adapting the game to the handheld format, creating a fully 3D version specifically suited to mobile phones. The game is being developed for BREW handsets, as well as Symbian compatible phones, and the well known iPhone. Apparently a 2D version is also in development for handsets that can't manage the 3D version of the game, so everyone will be catered for. A non-interactive demo has been displayed, with the visuals actually being rendered on the handset, rather than being a video. One of the biggest issues will surely be the controls, adapting a FPS game to mobiles will be no small task. It'll be interesting to see how the game turns out, and whether IG Fun can actually pull this off.
