Speculation! Rumour! Innuendo! Well, maybe not a lot of the last one. If you're a keen visitor of Blizzards home on the Interwebs, you might have noticed this splash page, which came into existence earlier. If you're incredibly keen, you might have noticed that the splash image has changed, and probably will change again as time goes by.

People are speculating that this may mark the announcement of Diablo 3, but it may more than likely be a World of Warcraft update or something. Then again, I know very little about Blizzard's work, so perhaps the more knowledgable here may want to speculate?

My money's on Diablo 3


Here's a comparison.

They're working on a new MMO. The rumours were that it would be a Diablo MMO, not Diablo 3.

World of Diablo?

I don't think they would release a MMO it would compete with WOW to much. They will finish milking it before announcing WOW 2.

Yeah... the thing is, WoW subscribers are nowhere near the number they say. They claim 10 million, but only 3.5 million Burning Crusade copies have been sold. Doesn't really add up.

I'd say there's around 1 million subscribers, and probably another million that are sort of.. i'll play now... now i'll break... now i'll play... now i'll break... like me

I don't know - My sources (thats right, I have sources!) say bliz's current "Hydra" team are behind schedual atm, and what ever they are working on wont be out till next year atleast.

My money is on:

A) Starcraft, either solo or an MMO, most likely solo.
or
B) Warcraft Stuff. WotLK is getting awefully close, and given how poorly BC did compared to the original release, I imagine bliz will be flogging their PR team to get the new expansion selling.

Diablo 3, most likely, it will be MMO like, but fan run over the internet, with players hosting their own servers and crap. Basically, every online game is it's own instance, or something.

Hell, I don't know. Diablo 3 could be the best thing ever, but if Blizzard don't want to eat in to the own marketshare, they could gut it like a fish.

And yes, 10 million subscribers for WOW is bollocks. I'm sure 10 million people have signed up, but not even half of those would be paying customers anymore.

G-Train you know Starcraft II is due out in about half a year, right?

I don't think they'd tease something that is already out. The runes under the ice are from Diablo.

My guess its something to do with either possible release date or beta for WotLK  as this article here suggests  -

There's also a bit of speculation on the WoW forums that it might have something to do with Frostmourne itself. If you look at the picture of Frostmourne right down at the bottom to the right hand side you can see a clear image of what appears to be runes & because it was a runeblade,some people think that the runes in the blizz splash might have something to do with it & the ice kind of looks similiar as well. I'm probably wrong  about that theory as well though so please don't quote me on that. lol
