Wii

Men, steer clear. Unless you like this sort of thing. In which case, read on. EA has unveiled the latest Boogie title: Boogie Superstar. EA is marketing this purely as a girls game though: “Boogie SuperStar promotes self-expression, creativity and empowerment for girls worldwide,” said Robert Nashak, VP of Casual Studios, EA Casual Entertainment. “We have created a game where girls don’t just observe someone else’s rise to fame, they experience it themselves, singing and dancing their way through a world most girls only dream about.”

Rihanna, Fergie, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Leona Lewis, Alicia Keys, Good Charlotte, Britney Spears, Kanye West and more will feature on the soundtrack, so it should at least appeal to someone who isn't me. Boogie Superstar is a Wii exclusive title and will ship in October with a microphone.

Wow, that's just what girls want: A large multinational telling them that by releasing a game marketed directly at them that they can feel empowered and express themselves freely and creatively through thoroughly controlled copyrighted content.

Whatever happened to letting a girl choose between a shovel and a rolling pin? Jesus christ.
