Cataclysm Pre-E3 Press Event Details
PC
14th June 2010, 8:01am

Blizzard have cut the ropes of the NDA from a press event they held a few days ago, and the juicy news has hit the net. If you haven't had a chance to check it out yet, here's the major announcements:
- Guild leveling is still in development, but it will not include talents or guild currency
- Path of the Titans has been scrapped, as Blizzard wants the new secondary profession Archaeology to be more about learning the lore of Azeroth and Warcraft.
- Glyphs will be set out in three tiers rather than two, with a complete overhaul to the Inscription profession.
- The first end-game raid will be The Bastion of Twilight (inside Grim Batol, in Wetlands), which will have Cho'gall (Twilight's Hammer clan) as the final boss.
- Raid ID's will no longer be as strict as they used to be. You can split a 25-man raid in to three 10 man raids and continue from whatever boss you are on, also you can leave one raid ID to join another. This means some players will perhaps be able to get completely geared in just a day or two.
- Current heirlooms will work for Worgen and Goblin characters, but will not continue to scale past level 80.
- The guild roster will show your guild member's professions, you you can check out their schematics and enchantments even when they are offline.
- There will be reputation to be earned with your guild, similar to the NPC factions around the game. Gaining reputation is as easy as doing dungeons and raids with your guild, and you will not lose the reputation if you leave the guild.
For more of the changes, check out WoW.com's write-up. Wer'e also expecting a new E3 2010 trailer in the next couple of days so stay tuned!

Haha oh I remember. Those damn crocodiles used to pwn us.
Going to be interesting to see how bliz pull of the lore recycling. Obviously anyone who's played WoW will know Bliz are infamous for reusing content - and cataclysm (aside from features) is a complete remake of both classic Warcraft lore, and WoW vanilla. (or so it seems). On one hand, it could be great given Warcrafts rich history - then again........Onyxia.

They've put Ony in Lich King, I doubt they'll upgrade her again...
The reasons they upgraded her is because she was (easily) soloable if you had the right class at 80 and she dropped a fair bit of gold, so 80's would take through lvl60's (and charge them for it) to get the head, tier 2 helms, and other epics.. and then loot the bag/gold for themselves.
I think it's good that they did it, as for a MMO to be successful in my eyes you can't be soloing a 40 man boss, regardless of the level.
My point is they passed off an old dungeon as new. Fair enough if you don't want lvl 80s farming her, nerf the gold she hands out. But Lich King recycled Ony/Naxx which was not only encounters, but gear appearences also. Lazy IMO.

bahaha , those crocs certainly were a right royal pain in the ar*e.![]()

Passing old stuff off as new is nothing unique, look at Apple.![]()
They did nerf the gold but it didn't make a difference because as I said, people were charging others to be run through for the gear for their twinks and whatnot. Ended up being more profitable than the ~150G that dropped.
It was either upgrade it to lvl80 or remove the encounter from the game. At least all the post-vanilla WoW noobs can experience the T2 helm designs!
