Square's World of Mana project is causing quite a stir. It's supposedly one giant interconnected world, with titles for every system. The DS title is called Children of Mana, but unfortunately it was set for a release in Winter 2006.

Whoops - typo! Square Enix recently updated its website with a new release - Winter 2005 (aka Summer in southern hemisphere). Much better news! Famitsu offers some new details on the game: It features multiplayer action, where you need to work together as a team to accomplish tasks. Think Zelda: Four Swords. There's a deep weapon system - you can equip multiple weapons and use the stylus to wield them. Don't worry - they won't use the stylus just for the stylus's sake; the D-pad and buttons will still be the main method of control.

Character modification is also a big part of the game - you can equip different items to change your stats. This takes the place of jobs or races in more conventional RPGS, so that when playing multiplayer it's easier to differentiate everyone.

You can expect more info in the near future, and you'll read it first here on Gamebiz.
