4th August 2006, 11:35am
It's not often that Sliced gets some gaming news to report on from the world of Apple. We are currently expanding our frontiers however, so you can expect more Apple news in the coming months as we receive it.TransGaming Inc. today announced a brand new portability engine for the Mac platform. The engine, entitled 'Cider', will make it easier for developers to transplant their games from the Windows platform to the Mac, without the need to rebuild the entire game, or fiddle with problematic porting.
The new technology hopes to make it simple for developers to simulataneously release products for the two platforms. According to their press release, a number of high-end developers have already signed into contracts with TransGaming, so all you Mac gamers out there (yes, all 3 of you) can hopefully enjoy some great titles in the coming months.
Sliced Comment: TransGaming has stated that their technology will only work for Intel based Macs. Those of you already running Bootcamp will have probably noticed that the current range of Intel based Macs handle Windows games quite well. It will be interesting to see how games on each platform compare.
