Demigod, the hybrid gaming experience developed by Gas Powered Games that blends action, strategy and role-playing elements, will be available on PC in Australia on 14 May 2009.

Set in a magical world where gods walk among mortals, players can choose from a dozen unique demigods to battle their way into the pantheon of the gods. Each demigod has their own special skills, powers and capabilities that can be upgraded by capturing enemy citadels and brushing aside hordes of rival minions. The brutal conflicts take place in a variety of arenas where players can purchase better equipment and improve their Citadel with the ultimate goal of laying waste to the opposing faction.

The game makes use of Stardock’s Impulse Reactor, which provides intelligent matchmaking, online tournaments, player skill ratings, and more.

I absolutely loved Supreme Commander by GPG, partly because I used to love Total Annihlation (and TA Kindgoms) more than anything when I was a kid. SC took up like 90% of my after-school time for about 6 months. That game had such an amazing ability to scale and strategise, nothing before or since has compared, I think.

In some ways Introversion's Defcon reminds me a bit of it, though it seems completely different.

Even being placed in a different spot on the map completely changed things. On a tiny map? Non stop raids and set up defences, or build some higher tier stuff than your opponent and sneakily airdrop in the back and screw them over. On a huge map? If you're at the back, get as many resources as possible, build hundreds of low level bombers or get to top tier bombers straight away! Or just build up a mass army of robots! If you're in the middle front, you better get onto defence.

I don't know, it was just rad how much you could do and change and counter and flank and everything.

GPG really are up there when it comes to RTS'. Chris Taylor 4 life.
