Nintendo has licensed Mario for use as mobile content - with sounds and graphics now available from the Super Mario series. Nikkei Japan financial website has revealed that Nintendo has licensed certain franchises for use as mobile phone content. There'll also be updates on upcoming games.

The service is called Nintendo Mobile, and will begin on Japanese service provider NTT DoCoMo on 17/10/05, KDDI(au) on 20/10/05, and Vodafone on 1/11/05. Ring tones and animated images can be obtained for about $2 a month, though there is free content avaialble.

I hope the scheme is successful, and that the Western world gets a similar deal.
