Dragon Quest X Headed to Wii
Wii
10th December 2008, 4:29pm

Square-Enix have come out and announced that the next numbered game in the series (after the yet to be released Dragon Quest IX being released on the DS) is being developed for the Wii. Dragon Quest X will move the numbered entries of the series back to the home consoles once again, after the brief departure. Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii revealed at the recent Square-Enix conference that "Square-Enix is currently developing Dragon Quest X on Wii." Nintendo's President, Satoru Iwata took the stage shortly after and confirmed the statement. Also at the event, Dragon Quest IX was confirmed for a March 28 release in Japan, so we should see an English release a little later down the track.

Oh man, this is gonna make a lot of Sony fanboys very cranky. Or it will suddenly makes them think DQ is shit.

Not really, I'm not particularly surprised. Dragon Quest IX is being released on DS after all, and the Dragon Quest series started out on the SNES. Sony just got lucky with VII it would seem.
Started on NES, and Sony got lucky with VII and VIII you mean.
This is a massive coup for Nintendo, and a massive loss for Sony. Dragon Quest is a religion in Japan.
Everything gets dumbed down these days. You can't even die in the new Prince of Persia.
Just hope it isn't dumbed down for the new audiences.
It's not like... they were ever hard or anything.
I've played DS games which seem to have been painfully dumbed down so I'm just hoping that this isn't because I'll probably give it a go.

How many are available for the DS at the moment?

You should probably stop playing the Imagine series if you're looking for something challenging.
Games in the "Mana" series by Square Enix, unless they're like that normally of course. I've played plenty of G rated games so I have a benchmark to compare to. There are probably more but I tend to avoid playing them again and I haven't played my DS in a while so they slip my mind.

The Mana series has been going downhill for a little while now anyway.

Okay, then maybe there's no need to worry.
