15th May 2003, 9:45pm
Metro3D, Inc., the multi-platform video game developer and publisher is previewing Shayde: Monsters vs. Humans, exclusively for the Microsoft® Xbox™ video game system at this week's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).

Metropolis Pacific Inc., Metro3D's own in-house development team is developing the multiplayer online game and first-person-strategy-shooter (FPSS) that will support Xbox LIVE, Microsoft's broadband online gaming network. The title is anticipated for a nationwide release Q3 2003.

"Shayde: Monsters vs. Humans captures all the best gaming features, graphics, and online capabilities that makes the Xbox machine such a powerful platform to support," said Joseph Morici, senior vice president, sales and marketing, Metro3D. "In addition, Shayde brings a new dimension to the multiplayer online gaming and first-person-strategy-shooter genre that Xbox audiences are sure to enjoy."

Shayde: Monsters vs. Humans takes place in an underground world of supernatural gothic horror where players choose to fight for good - as humans, or on the side of evil - as monsters who seek to destroy and feast on the flesh of humans. Players select from six different characters, each with their own storyline and ability to spawn as unique creatures with distinct abilities. These characters include: Humans - Soldiers, Hunters and Scientists or Monsters - Fiends, Zombies and Vampires. In this secret war between humanity and monsters, Shayde: Monsters vs. Humans focuses on a new type of multiplayer team play, where players have a strong incentive to cooperate, and together, play many different roles in the context of an epic online struggle.

Players plot their strategy based on each character's strengths and weaknesses. Deadly weapons and tools exclusive to each character possess strategic functions beyond the standard shooter arsenal. Multiple offline single-player missions guarantee hours of competitive mayhem as well, though the true honor behind Shayde: Monsters vs. Humans is in the reward of teamwork and strategic thinking, creating a unique team-play dynamic.

Shayde: Monsters vs. Humans also utilizes the Xbox Voice Commander, a built-in game chat feature that allows players to interact and communicate in real-time. The game capitalizes on the unique technology of the Microsoft Xbox to capture stunning graphics and effects, including extensive environment and bump mapping, realistic shadow volumes, dramatic lighting, particle effects, and more.
