E3 2004: Phantom to be Unveiled

Infinium Labs will debut the Phantom Gaming Service at this years E3 with a launch date to be the 18th of November. The company plans to provide the hardware free of charge in return for a two-year contract that will see the person pay $29.95/month(USD). Gamers will also have the option of buying just the hardware for $199 which will be credited back to them over the life of two years if remained a subscriber. The service is made up of four key components being, the service itself, the "receiver" Hardware, flexible distribution network, and the large library of games. Games will be distributed by broadband internet streaming to the Phantom receiver. Subscribers will be glad to know that you will get some free initial games, with additional titles rented or purchased.

The Phantom will support an AMD Athlon XP 2500+, NVIDIA GeForce FX5700 and the NVIDIA nForce 2 Ultra 400 platform processor. The receiver will also include 256MB of system memory and feature a 40GB hard drive. The Phantom will come bundled with gamepad, a mouse and lapboard. The Phantom will be demonstrated in a 8,000 sq ft booth at E3 and lucky visitors will get to test the service.
