Further Australian Xbox 360 Price Cuts
Xbox 360

In a lead up to the Christmas season, Microsoft has again cut the RRP price of the Xbox 360 here in Australian. The Xbox 360 Arcade is now priced at $AUD299. The Pro model is now priced at $AUD399 and includes a 60gb hard drive. The Elite model will sell for $549 which has the 120gb hard drive.
For Christmas, the Xbox Arcade machine will also ship with two games - Sega Superstars Tennis and five Arcade titles. Other models receive Lego Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda.
Sliced Comments: Best value console by far. The Arcade version now costs $100 less than the Wii console, which hasn't seen a price drop to date.

Price drops reflect sales drops - Xbox probably isn't pushing the numbers they have been since release, the 3RROD may have finally sealed it's fate, even if they have been "fixed".
I'm almost tempted to pick up a Pro. But I think I'll just get a new graphics card, some more RAM and a new HDD for the PC instead.

Wise choice - I remember a statement from Sony saying they were aiming for a 2010 launch of a PS4, so MS are probably aiming for a new Xbox soon also.
That doesn't sound right. Sony has been pushing for a ten year cycles on their consoles. That makes it roughly 2016 when the PS3 dies out. With a couple of years overlap, you're still looking at 2014-2015 for the PS4.
Sony said the same thing about the PS1 which came out in 1995 and the PS2 came out in 2000. They said the same thng about the PS2 and the PS3 came out in 2006. Sony consoles generally have 4-5 years to go after the next generation is launched. A new PS3 in 2012 at the latest.
2010 seems a little early - but thats the date I remember, I'll try and find the source.
But I agree with RJ, it will be before 2015
