According to a comment by Hinojosa-Miranda after a post on Sony's official blog, announcing the soundtrack for Gran Turismo 5, the full game itself is set for "at least a year away".

This will mean PS3 gamers will have to do with the upcoming GT5 Prologue until at least 2009.

The fact that they're releasing a "prologue" kind of indicates that the full game is still a fair way off. Otherwise, why release the smaller version at all?

Now that's not true, the Prologue package is actually very good. I've heard a lot of good things about it, and most people agree it's good value. It may not be the full game, but it's not a demo either.

It is a demo, because it is a smaller version of a soon (LOL) to be released game. Except you pay for it. It doesn't have all the features. It doesn't have even half the content.

It's a smaller version of the same game to show you what the full version will look like.

No, it's a game in it's own right, even if it is only a big sample of a yet to be released game. There's 70 cars available to race in, 6 tracks, as well as 16 player online races, Prologue could almost be a full game by itself. Considering that it's retailing for around $50, it's rather good. When we think of a demo, we think of something small, that you download, and only lasts long enough to give you a rough idea of the game. Prologue is a game from within a game, something for the many Gran Turismo fans to play while they wait for the complete game to reach the market.

They are releasing part of the whole game that is what a demo is. Maybe it is bigger than your average demo but it is still a demo.

6 tracks isn't a whole lot anyway. Kind of seems out of proportion to the number of cars.

Despite the fact that I won't bother buying this and just wait for the full game, I agree with admeister that the prologue is bigger and better than a simple demo. 6 tracks isn't big, but it's not small either and neither is 70 cars with online capabilities.

E.g. PGR3 had only 80 cars in the full game and online multiplayer never included 16 people.

It's a demonstration of what to expect in GT5, therefore it's a demo. It's simple really
