The soon-to-no-longer-be Ensemble Studios is still hard at work on Halo Wars, which is shipping in Australia on February 26th. The game is a look at the Halo universe from a real-time strategy perspective. Today, they're going behind the scenes of the the game's Spartan units in the 'Expanding the Arsenal' video documentary series. You can download it on Xbox Live, or simply view it over at the official website (click 'Game Videos').

If that's piqued your interest, you can look forward to the demo hitting the digital marketplace tomorrow. And if that piques your interest, well, it's only a couple of week until it's out - and we get it a week before the US too!

I think it's a stretch to refere to the Halo series as a "universe". Yes it's set in space, but it's not as though it has the Lore/history/side stories to make up more then a linear plot.

Star Wars has a universe - Warcraft has a universe - Halo, not so much.

At any rate, It will be interesting to see how this title goes. Halo has a cult following and its from the same studio that did the Age of Empires games IIRC, then again - ms DID release Halo 2......

Nothing starts with a "universe" they are developed so if they use this game to do that then it could give the games stories more depth.

Oh hi.

Keep in mind I'm not saying that the books are any good or anything, I haven't read them, but there has been a lot of attention paid to the world building (or universe building) for Halo. The amount of backstory in that stupid iLoveBees game from a few years ago is just one example.
