Sony says that Microsoft is copying their business too much. In a recent discussion wiht PSM, SCEA CEO Kaz Hirai expressed disgust at Microsoft's moves.

"Every time we go down a path, we look behind and they're right there - we just can't shake these guys," he exclaimed. "I wish that they would come up with some strategies of their own, but they seem to be going down the path of everything we do. If you look at their strategy in other business areas as well, they tend to do that."

While Hirai didn't actually specify what Microsoft had 'copied' off them, he also took the time to express annoyance at how most people had seen the PS3's Blu-Ray support as, well, just that - support. An 'add-on'. He claimed it should be seen not as secondary functionality, but as the true backbone of the hardware.

The most interesting news was his discussion of software prices. Hirai said that 'the quick answer is that we want to make it as affordable as possible, knowing that there is a set consumer expectation for what software has cost for the past twelve years. That's kind of the best answer I can give you. So, if it becomes a bit higher than US$59, don't ding me, but, again, I don't expect it to be US$100.'

There are no official PS3 game prices yet, but it sounds as if the cost of the system itself isn't the only thing gamers will have to bear.
