Distributer Mindscape stated today that the previously announced release date of the 22nd April for Silent Hill: Shattered Memories on Wii has been delayed until further notice due to flight delays caused by the Iceland volcano. Other Konami titles, exclusively distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Mindscape, to be affected include Karaoke Revolution (Wii and PS3) and Puzzle Chronicles (on PSP and DS). Scene it? Twilight (Wii and DS), GTi Club Supermini Festa (Wii) and Sports Island (DS) may also be delayed should the disruptions caused by the volcano continue.

"Whilst most of us immediately think that this will affect international travellers only, in actual fact the volcano has also caused disruption to the local games industry. The flight delays are greatly impacting the industry with Mindscape not the only publisher and distributor facing such delays."

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories on PSP and PS2 will be available on Friday at most independent retailers. The Wii version, along with Karaoke Revolution and Puzzle Chronicles will be delayed until the cloud of volcanic ash subsides and flights resume.

Yeah I thought the same thing - if it's such a major interuption, why is Mindscape the only one pushing release dates back. Could be they're the only publisher based in Europe though I suppose. Acti/Bliz - EA etc are all US based IIRC.

they're the only publisher based in Europe
with their manufacturing factories in Europe, meaning they can't ship anything anywhere, as games aren't 'shipped' they're 'flown'.

Protective gear - Sponges are very fragile and poor at absorbing anything....especially blunt trauma. Dar!
