In a surprising twist, what appears to be the box art for the upcoming Metal Gear game has suddenly appeared on the Xbox Live Marketplace website. The box features a picture of a figure who seems to be Raiden, the protagonist of Metal Gear Solid 2. Unlike other games in the series, which list "Tactical Espionage Action" as part of their logos, Rising's box instead says "Lightning Bolt Action". It seems as though the game will be going in a different direction to that of traditional Metal Gear Solid games. The sudden appear of the box art could mean that we'll be seeing Rising at this year's E3 expo. Konami are yet to announce their line-up for the event.

Looks tough.

I really hope this isn't a hack n slash eg Bayonetta or God of War. 'Cause if there's one thing I love, it's Metal Gear. And if there's one thing I hate, it's action hack and slashers.

MGS: Hack n Slash... now THAT would be an E3 announcement haha. I doubt it'll be anything like the games you  mentioned Jack.

As in the guy from MGS2 & 4

Same name though, it's Japanese for lightning or something isn't it?

He was totally bad ass in MGS4, his voice acting was sick in it.

Raiden - Definition

Raiden (雷電 is a god of thunder and lightning in Japanese mythology; his name is derived from the Japanese words rai (thunder) and den (lightning) or something isn't it.

I was more commenting on the poor innovation, rather than debating the existence of the name.

Yeah I suppose

It was just a codename in MGS2, and then he kinda got magic electrical powers later on in MGS4? Don't forget about the schmup, Raiden, either.
