It's 3DS Day
3DS

The Nintendo 3DS - the first glasses-free 3D console to hit the videogame market - is now available in Australia. Retailing at a recommended price of $349.95, but available in bundles and various deals for as low as $298, the system looks like it will sell well despite an underwhelming launch title lineup.
Nintendo of America revealed today that its March 27th release saw the highest ever first day sales for a handheld console in its history. It seems less likely to achieve that target here in Australia, with anticipation perhaps more muted due to the delay of games that launched alongside the system internationally. Pilotwings will be released on April 14th, while Steel Diver won't arrive until May 12th.
We'll have our hands-on impressions of the final system and interface up soon, so stay tuned.

Had a dream that I had my 3DS last night... and I was playing the black and white mario land from the original gameboy hah.
Mines currently going through Singapore on it's way from Amazon... hopefully arrives tomorrow.

It doesn't come out of the screen. The glasses you normally wear is the screen on the 3DS, so technically there's still 'glass' between you and the 3D.

Almost none of the 3d technology comes out of the screen. It's always a window effect. This is true of Nvidia 3D vision, 3D movies these days, every 3D TV I've ever watched, etc etc.
There are times when shit comes out of my 3d vision monitor, but that's usually the camera screwing up - the point of focus becomes way too close and it actually wrecks the effect.
It basically becomes like focusing on a fly on the end of your nose. So almost any home application of 3D is depth only.
When I saw the 3DS it did a very good job of it - same effect as my 3D monitor, obviously on a smaller screen, but the depth was as good, for sure.

That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

That's not always true for movies. Most only use the depth effect, but there are a few such as Despicable Me, which have objects popping out of the screen at you. When done well, it's actually a really good effect.

It's just how I see it dude. It's not jump out of the screen 3D
You realise the Z axis goes both ways, right?
There's a mom joke somewhere in there.
