Japan to Receive Enhanced Wii

After removing the DVD functionality from the original Wii, Nintendo have today confirmed that an enhanced version of the Wii WITH DVD playback will be released in Japan. However, there are no plans to release this version in Europe or the US, so I doubt we'll see it here. This is the same situation as the Gamecube hybrid console from Panasonic: the Q.As well as this, Nintendo also denied the CNN deal that was reported earlier this week. According to the report, CNN had signed on to provide news and weather for the Wii Channel system. Nintendo denied this, saying that no deal had been struck.
