You should already know that for a long time South Australian Attorney-General Michael Atkinson was the major roadblock to the introduction of an R18+ rating for games across the country. You may remember we introduced the Gamers4Croydon party that was trying to unseat Atkinson at the election over the weekend.

While the main game is still up in the air, we already have some good news: Atkinson will be stepping down. Suffering a 14.3 point swing against him, though still winning the seat with over 50% of the vote, he has decided it was time to let fresh blood into the position. Atkinson has stated he was not pressured to do so, and wanted to spend more time with his family, but the widespread condemnation of several of his policies, like the internet censorship bill that required online commenters to use their real name and postcode, and arguably unconstitutional anti-bikie laws, surely contributed.

Gamers4Croydon earned 3.7% of first preference votes in Croydon to Atkinson's 52.7%. Not bad for a new party. Chris Prior, the candidate for the Legislative Council and president of the party, has written about the result.

"Not Pressured"....sure. As if a fascist nutjob like that would just lay down. I don't like it, it doesn't feel right! There's something worse than Atkinson coming, mark my words!

No body else sees a strange correlation between the time of his retirement and the rise of Tony Abbot? Comon. They're like Saron and Saruman!
