Microsoft Bans Modded Xbox 360s from Live

According to recent reports on various hacking forums, with the latest Xbox update, Microsoft has started to ban users who try and connect to Xbox Live with modified firmware on their DVD drive. Even firmware with the suppose 'disc-jitter' detection fix is also locked out. Early reports indicate that the check is done on media itself, and not just the firmware - meaning 'stealth' firmware is also irrelevant.

Similar to Xbox 1, this change is permanent by machine ID, and means that particular Xbox 360 will not be able to login to Xbox Live ever again. Microsoft defends the change, saying that to ensure a level playing field, only unmodified Xbox 360's will be able to connect to Xbox Live
