Microsoft Reveals Game on Demand for XBL
Xbox 360

A landmark day for Xbox360 gamers with the introduction of a brand new way to access and play your Xbox 360 games: Games on Demand. Launching worldwide with a library of great titles, Games on Demand marks the introduction of digitally distributed full Xbox 360 games: the titles you want, whenever you want them, straight to your Xbox 360 at the push of a button. You’ll also have the option to easily purchase Games on Demand titles directly via credit card in addition to Microsoft Points.
From Platinum Hits titles like Mass Effect, BioShock and Call of Duty 2 to family favorites like Viva Pinata, Games on Demand gives you access to a growing catalogue of full Xbox 360 titles. You can browse and download 24/7 from the comfort of your couch, and new titles will be released every week. Your purchase history is always saved, so you can delete titles if needed and re-download titles at any time.

why not just let you burn then with your unique console id embedded in it somewhere? i hope they have peering agreements with all isps for this, since it has the potential to munch through your bandwidth

What's a joke is the $50 price tag of these games that you can get for $20 in-store these days.
Way to doom a service before it even starts!
The price, coupled with the ridiculous per-GB cost of storage on MS's console. I hope nobody wih a 20GB HDD plans on downloading more than two games without forking out $150 for a 60GB HDD. $3 per GB is a joke. That's nearly the same as what you'd pay for an SSD.

Anyone notice the acronym for Games on Demand?![]()
I know MS likes to play, but damn!
GOD sucks!
There was *alot* of bitching about Steam when it first came out, now how many of you use it to buy games? This is obviously MS looking for another source of income, and I certainly won't be using it. However, I think you're judging it too early - Never underestimate the laziness of the general population.

I don't think I've ever purchased anything off Steam that wasn't on sale. Will be interesting to see how often the GOD games are on sale.

i havent purchased anything off steam at all, pretty much everything on my steam account comes from bonus' from hardware sales and probably the odd hard copy of a game.
The difference being, Steam provides bonuses for buying through them, ie, lower prices, better tools, customised friends lists and server browsers and shit.
GoD simply gives you less product for a higher price on an even more limited storage space.
i saw a 500GB hdd for $65 today - cant you use any sata hdd in the xbox 360 hdd caddy?

No Zen, that is one of my issues with the Xbox, everything in/on it *has* to be MS made.
PS3 can swap out for laptop HDDs IIRC.
