The Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 2 Stimulus Package will strike worldwide on March 30.  "Representing the first new multiplayer maps from the biggest entertainment launch in history, Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Package will release first on Xbox Live."

The maps include Storm, Bailout, Crash, Overgrown and Salvage (Screenshots Below). For those of you getting a strange sense of nostalgia, it may be because two of these maps were first seen in the original Modern Warfare title.

While there will be many gamers falling over themselves to get their hands on the much loved MW maps, some may be unhappy with IW's new found interest in environmental conservation.

Kinda happy they're bringing out the old MW maps (IMO they were much better than the MW2 maps) but they picked the worst ones.....

Can't remember it's name, I think it was Block - was a fantastic map, Crossfire too. I spos crash and overgrown are far from the worst - meh, prob just personal taste.

They've always included classic maps in their map packs. Happened in CoD4, CoD2 I'm pretty sure, etc etc.

New ones look fun, Overgrown was a really good one in CoD4 but I never liked Crash very much. I'd have preferred crossfire or shipment or something.

edit: Block was a good map, lots of little strategies around. Crossfire was probably my favourite. Stuff like Vacant would have gone better than Crash - I mean, take your pick really. Killhouse was fun as well.

Edit 2: I think it's gonna be 1200 points which is shithouse, but... I'll probably still get it. They probably knew that.

$15 for six maps, two of which are old maps.

That's Activision for you, I guess. They now have three developers working on the franchise, and will be pumping the games out as fast as they can.

"The Sledgehammer-helmed title will "extend the franchise into the action-adventure genre."

Activision put it the studio together recently, iirc.

"confirming the departure of key Infinity Ward staffers."

Does that mean IW got the boot?

Yeah Jason West and Vince Zampanella got booted.

Infinity will probably still make CoD games, but Treyarch has the next one, an unnamed company has the next one and Sledgehammer are making that action adventure one.

Yeah, they've put Activision guys in charge of Infinity Ward now. They'll probably try and go somewhere with the Modern Warfare series still, but not before the big lawsuit betweenWest/Zampella and Activision kicks off some time in the year.

While I am very, VERY happy to hear that the master-minds behind leaving out local search in MW2 and doing pretty much everything in their power to give yanks a massive, unfair advantage over every other nationality of gamer finally got their comeuppance.

That's a little stiff if Activision are making off with their royalties. Still, Karma!

I can't read this news over the pile of free DLC Valve have handed out over the years. Sorry, I'm going to have to skip this one, el oh el.

Yeah - if only 50% of the people who bought MW2 buy the map pack - that's another $75,000,000US in Activision's pocket.
