Moore Wants More Simplification
Xbox 360, Wii
14th July 2006, 1:17pm

At an EA event, Moore said that to those who had never played before, video games are complicated and off-putting. 'Shoulder buttons, triggers, analog sticks, d-pads - I mean, there's a lot going on there.' He mentioned the success the Atari 2600 had with its basic joystick controller.
Regarding the Wii, he said its motion sensitivity was a step in the right direction - how easy it is to play is comparable to the days of the Atari. He does say, though, that there's room for improvement: 'Clearly I think the Wii is trying to get back to those days, although when I picked it up I was surprised how much stuff is on there, and it took me a little while even then to get going on those things.'
Does this mean Microsoft is working on a new controller? Well, apparently there's 'nothing that we're ready to talk about,' and they were 'not going to force anything that is not going to be intuitive and innovative.'
