In an interesting development, Nintendo has come out and said that their E3 comment that the Revolution would be "two to three times as powerful as the Gamecube" was a mistake.

Presumably, this means something was lost in translation on the way from Japan, and that the Revolution may not deserve all the attacks it received from Sony and Microsoft supporters.

Even if the statement turns out to be correct, it's not all bad. In the past, Nintendo's figures have been estimated from a running, detailed game engine, while the competitors (Nintendo claim) take their estimates from the chips, before they've been incorporated into a game and are thus grossly misrepresentative.
