Bethesda Software has announced that for the first time, downloadable content (DLC) will be available for the Playstation 3 version of the game. The first release will be Operation:Ancorage, followed by The Pitt, and Broken Steel 4-6 weeks apart. This will be accompanied by a new update that will allow PS3 owners to play the addons.

Not only this, but there are another two DLC additions for all three platforms coming - Point Lookout which allows you to explore a massive swap with all new quests, and Mothership Zeta, in which aliens return to earth.

Point Lookout will be released late June for 800 Microsoft points on the Xbox 360 and PC, and Mothership Zeta in late July for the same. PS3 versions will follow the 360 and PC releases.

For those that aren't able to download the addons, they will also be available for 360 and PC as addon discs in retail stores. Addon Pack #1 will be released in June and contain The Pitt and Operation: Ancorage, and Addon Pack #2 will be released in August and include Broken Steel and Point Lookout.

Finally, in October we will see the release of the Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition which will include the original game and all five addons. It will available for all three platforms.

Phew! That's a lot to take in, but is great to see Bethesda keeping the game going for fans of the series.
