LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias Revealed
Wii

It's an exciting day - the sequel to the fantastic WiiWare download LostWinds has been announced, and it's titled LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias. The original game gave you control of the wind with the Wii Remote, and the sequel looks like it will iterate on the concept with some great new puzzles and abilities. You'll get to explore more of Mistralis in search of Toku's mother, too.
The biggest new addition seems to be the ability to switch at any time between Summer and Winter, turning ponds to ice and freezing enemies in their tracks. I'm sure you're already imagining how it can be integrated into some smart platforming and puzzles. Your control over the air is also being improved, with snowballs, rainclouds and cyclones now at your disposal.
“LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias will delight both new and returning players.” said David Braben, Chairman and Founder of Frontier. “Every aspect has been extended and polished, and the major new gameplay elements dovetail perfectly to give a fantastically rich, fun, innovative experience.”
We've managed to grab a whole slew of screenshots that compare the summer and winter locales, as well as a lot of concept art. Plus, we've got a downloadable teaser trailer showing off some of the new gameplay, including swimming. Get your copy below.
