Medal of Honor: Rebooted

And so the cycle of life continues. EA has announced that Medal of Honor will be rebooted in 2010 with a new game titled, simply, Medal of Honor. A co-production of their DICE and LA studios, the scene is finally shifted from World War 2 to the ravaged Afghanistan landscape. You'll take control of the Tier 1 Operator, 'a relatively unknown entity directly under the National Command Authority who takes on missions no one else can handle.'

"When we first set out to reinvent Medal of Honor, we wanted to stay true to its roots of authenticity and respect for the soldier but bring it into today’s war. The Tier 1 Operator is the most disciplined, deliberate and prepared warrior on the battlefield. He is a living, breathing, precision instrument of war." said Greg Goodrich, Executive Producer, Medal of Honor. "We are honored to have the rare opportunity to work closely with these men to create a game that shares their experience."

"EA has always been an advocate for telling the soldiers’ story. The new Medal of Honor follows that tradition. We felt it was important to tell the story of today’s war and today’s elite soldiers via today’s most relevant medium – videogames," said Sean Decker, VP and General Manager of EA LA. "We are so proud to bring together two powerhouse development teams to make this game a reality; EA Los Angeles and EA DICE. Medal of Honor promises to be an unforgettable entry in the modern shooter genre."

Man, let the franchise die already - Medal of Honor hasn't been a decent FPS competitor since the devs split.

Um. I think the entire point here is to make it a decent FPS competitor. You're saying they should just give up?

If they're just going to produce utter garbage like the last few titles.....yes! I'm not gonna get into an oppinion war, simply put - If I was a publisher, I wouldn't touch this franchise.

Let's say you own the franchise. A franchise that's made money in the past and is not irretrievably tarnished, but merely suffering from sequelitis and showing age against its modern competitors. You think they're just going to wipe it off the books? It's kind of ridiculous that you're dismissing a reboot because of the fact that previous games grew stale - i.e. the entire reason for the reboot. We have literally seen nothing of the game.

New trailers looks good A lot like MW2, but I don't have much of a problem with that.

IIRC the original devs of MOHAA split from Dreamworks (aka EA) to found Infinity Ward didn't they?

Ummmm, some of them did I'm pretty sure, but I don't think it was a majority? I could be entirely wrong.

yeah, it wasnt alot of people, i think it may have been 20-25 people that formed IW, all former devs from MOHAA fame.
