Bethesda Acquires id Software - PC, Xbox 360, PS3

ZeniMax Media, parent company of noted game publisher Bethesda Softworks, today announced it has completed the acquisition of legendary game studio id Software, creators of world-renowned games such as DOOM, QUAKE, Wolfenstein, and its upcoming title RAGE. The acquisition by ZeniMax Media joins together two of the finest, most respected videogame developers in the world, combining the first person shooter expertise of id Software with acclaimed role playing game developer Bethesda Game Studios – creators of the 2008 Game of the Year, Fallout 3, and the 2006 Game of the Year, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Bethesda Softworks will publish the titles of id Software other than upcoming releases previously committed to other publishers.
Todd Hollenshead, CEO of id Software, commented on the transaction: “This was a unique opportunity to team with a smart, sophisticated publisher like Bethesda Softworks where the interests of the studio and the publisher will be fully aligned in the development and marketing of our titles. In addition, we will now have financial and business resources to support the future growth of id Software, a huge advantage which will result in more and even better games for our fans.”
id Software will continue to operate as a studio under the direction of its founder, John Carmack. No changes will be made in the operations of id Software in the development of its games. All the principals at id Software have signed long-term employment contracts, assuring they will continue in their roles developing games at the studio.
“This puts id Software in a wonderful position going forward,” said John Carmack, who will continue to serve in his current role as Technical Director. “We will now be able to grow and extend all of our franchises under one roof, leveraging our capabilities across multiple teams while enabling forward looking research to be done in the service of all of them. We will be bigger and stronger, as we recruit the best talent to help us build the landmark games of the future. As trite as it may be for me to say that I am extremely pleased and excited about this deal, I am."
Robert Altman, the founder, Chairman & CEO of ZeniMax Media stated, “We, along with many others, consider id Software to be among the finest game studios in the world, with extraordinary design, artistic and technical capabilities. They have demonstrated, repeatedly, that rare ability to create franchise properties that are critical and commercial successes. Our intention is to make sure id Software will continue to do what they do best – make AAA games. Our role will be to provide publisher support through Bethesda Softworks and give id Software the resources it needs to grow and expand.”

Probably due to teh same reason I rarely look up cheat codes - The option to change the difficulty at the drop of a hat just wrecks it for me - could probably blame my own self-control more than the game I spos.
hahaha.. MLI! MLI!!! or if you were a bogan, ILM!! ILM!!!!!
I only read how to get the armor after I realised I was dead bored of the game - I just would have found the game more challenging if there was an Easy / Medium / Hard selection at the start you couldn't change.
I fully understand you not enjoying the game but I am confused as to your problem with the difficulty slider. Why? Just don't change it if you don't need too. I could complain that star craft is too easy cause I can make all my guys invincible just by typing in 2 words. I guess it assumes a certain level of self control.

I think Batman was merely discussing why he refused to explore the world of Oblivion.
I only played through like half of Oblivion - I found it too easy to hack. I made a warrior and IIRC you get skill points (and lvl ups) simply from fighting, so I found a group of rats and sticky tapped my "Block" key down, went and did my house work / ran some errads, came back 2 hrs later and had mastered shields and gained like 30 lvls 0_o
Then I read online where to find the best armor, found the mob, set it to uber-easy, killed it and it dropped a full set of plate mail - put the difficulty back to normal and went to town......lame.

You know you could just not exploit it. That's like saying any game is too easy on the easiest difficulty level. Plus even if you mastered shields you wouldn't gain 1/3 of that many levels. If you are reading online guides of course the game is going to be less fun.

Batman is a recluse.
Most people suck.
Wrong thread?

Doom > Elder Scrolls for one simple fact.
You don't have to mod Doom to make it playable.
That said, if Bethesda can get an Elder Scrolls game running on id's Tech 5 engine, it would look very sexy.
I played morrowind and oblivion through multiple times both modded and un-mdoded. Enjoyed it both ways, mods are a huge bonus but I would still consider them some of my favorite games ever without them.

now with darker maps and narrower flashlight!
Elder Scrolls 5: DOOM ?
You are making me cry.
I just want Elder Scrolls 5. Every time I see Bethesda in a headline I am disappointed.
