Nintendo Announces The DSi
DS

Nintendo have announced at their Media Summit today that they are releasing the DS's third "revision", the DSi. New features include 2 cameras (one on the top of the console, and one inside, as seen in the picture) which are 3 megapixel. The 2 screens are slightly larger than that of the DS Lite, at 3.25 inches each. Unfortunately, the GBA slot has been removed, but on the positive side, there is now an SD card slot. The console's depth has also been slimmed down by 2.6mm.
There are some audio improvements as well, the DSi can adjust pitch and playback, making it ideal for language study and listening to music. It possible to take pictures with the DSi, save them on an SD card and then view them on a PC. The DSi features a built-in brower, on board storage, built-in applications, (you can download new apps), and you can take titles you've downloaded to the DSi with you. There will be a DSi Shop, which users can download DSiWare from as well. The pricing categories for the DSiWare are: Free, 200 points, 500 points and "Premium" or 800 points. Buyers of the DSi will get 1000 free points to spend at the DSi Shop that are good until March 2010.
Nintendo have stated that the DSi is intended to complement the current DS. The DSi has a release date of November 1st in Japan and will be priced at ¥18,900 (US$179, $225 AUD). It will be available in white and black at launch.

I wouldn't use it as a camera if I had one. I'm jealous that my DS doesn't have two touch screen though.I'm not buying another one.
Word is the camera will come into play for some games, though.
The DSi only has one touch screen, as before.
Ah well. Still looks interesting. I didn't pick up a lite so I'll prolly pick up an.. i?
Dude, I fricking called (most of) it! Obviously I thought most of these features would be in the proper DS successor, but outside of the rumble/gyroscope, it's pretty much what I described.

Well now I don't care about the new version then. I can live without cameras in my DS. I can understand that they'll make games that incorporate it (like 360) but it's not so much of an improvement to make me love mine less.
I really don't understand why all these console makers keep bringing out slightly updated versions every few months, all it does is pissoff people who already own one, its not like people are going to say "OMG, it's slightly better then mine!" throw theirs in the trash and rush out to buy the new one.

Maybe it can have Good Looks Training with the camera. RJG can review that one![]()

They wouldn't make them if people weren't buying them so blame the consumers.
