Nintendo Australia has sent word that the Nintendo DS (including the original Nintendo DS, Lite and DSi) has sold through more than two million units in Australia. GfK Australia has confirmed that this makes Nintendo DS the fastest selling console to reach this milestone. It took just 221 weeks, and for the last three years, the system has been Australia’s number one selling console.

I'd say a fifth or even a quarter are either a) broken or b) sitting out the back of an EB/GAME store traded in. They are flimsy little things with their easily breakable screens and their terribad hinges.
You honestly think 400,000-500,000 DSs are broken? There'd be a hell of an outcry if that were true.

Broken or traded in. 5 year-old DS consoles don't look very nice these days. I'd say quite a lot have been thrown out.

Are you kidding? My DS has been knocked by kids from tables and shelves onto hard tiled ground and come out without a scratch. The only screen breaking happens when you try and play with a nail or chisel or some shizz.
My old DS has been through a lot and yeah, it might not look nice, but it plays exactly like it did the first day I had it. My DS Lite is still in perfect condition.
