Since the Nintendo DS Lite was released in Europe on 23rd June, it has gone on to sell some 200,000 units. These figures were achieved in just the first 10 days, which has been a great start for Nintendo's new handheld unit.

The DS (DS regular and the DS lite) has sold over 5 million total sales in Europe since it's release, a position Nintendo must be more than happy with.

In Europe, popular sellers have been Animal Crossing: Wild World with 600,000 copies, and over 250,000 copies of Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old is Your Brain? It seems that some aiming for a slightly wider age-group and demographic with it's games is really starting to pay off for the big N.

No doubt this will give Nintendo great confidence when it tries to push into the next generation with it's Wii console towards the end of this year. It just goes to show that nobody can ever write Nintendo off in the gaming market.
