Nintendo DSi Sells Over 100,000 Units
DS
22nd July 2009, 2:09pm

Nintendo has sent word that they have sold through more than 100,000 Nintendo DSi units in only 14 weeks, which independent market research group GfK Retail and Technology Australia has confirmed. The console launched in Australia and New Zealand on April 2nd, 2009. As of May 2009, the three versions of the Nintendo DS console had sold a combined total of 2 million units in the region.
Interestingly, the DSi sold 30,000 units in its first ten days, which means the console really sold through 70,000 units in 13 weeks. Nintendo did not say that the DSi was the fastest console to do so, either, so while 100,000 units is nothing to sniff at, its higher price point may be responsible for a slower adoption rate.
