Nintendo To Unveil 3D DS At E3
DS

Nintendo of Japan has today made the surprising announcement that they will be unveiling the DS's successor, temporarily titled the Nintendo 3DS, at this year's E3. As suggested by the name, the system will apparently produce "3D effects without the need for any special glasses". It will be backwards compatible with DS and DSi software.
Little else is known, though with backwards compatibility requirements we can assume that the two screens, touchscreen, microphone, and probably camera and SD card slot will all be back. Sites are reporting that Game Freak (of Pokémon fame) have had the device for a while and will soon unveil a new generation of games for the console.
What do you think? Would you invest in 3D gaming on the go? Is it just the latest cash-in on the 3D craze, or a legitimate and exciting next step in handheld gaming? Leave your comments below.
