Nintendo's E3 Conference Summary. Pictures Inside
Wii, DS
16th July 2008, 12:53pm

Nintendo have just finished up their E3 2008 conference, and they've made some interesting announcements. Here they are in dot point form:
- Animal Crossing: City Folk - Features a new microphone type device for the Wii called Wii Speak, which will allow gamers talk to other people (friend codes required, of course) online. To be released on the Wii by the end of the year in America.
- Including the new Explorers of Time and Darkness games, 180 million Pokemon games have now been sold worldwide.
- COD: World at War was shown, with the Wii Zapper being used as a gun. Not one for the kids.
- A version of Spore is coming to the DS - can share creatures between games.
- Guitar Hero: On Tour - Decades is coming to the DS, will feature song sharing between games.
- A new Pokemon Ranger game will be released in November in America.
- DS connectivity will potentially be expanded, with airports being a possible area of integration.
- An English version of Cooking Navi will be released in America in November.
- Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is coming to DS.
- Wii Sports Resort is coming to Wii, it uses Wii Motion Plus, which comes bundled with game.
- Wii Music was shown, the game can use the Wii Board and Remote at the same time.

Fat load of crap that keynote was. Totally not worth staying up for. :<
Still, GTA for DS.
Pretty weak. Though animal crossing looks cool.
Yeah, kinda disappointing. I'll rent the pokemon game though, for funsies.

Why is it centered lol looks weird
I was hoping for a new Zelda but oh well.

I thought it looked good, it sort of overlapped when I had it centered to the left.
Nintendo's conference was pretty disappointing for me as well, far too much emphasis on casual gamers. Sony's is much better imo, I'll have the article up soon.

lol instead of game library after first 19 months they should show how many good games are on each console
That sucked. No Kid Icarus, no Punch Out, just stupid Animal Crossing. If that's the title they said would appeal to their hardcore user base then LOL.

far too much emphasis on casual gamers.
Haven't you noticed? That's their target audience now...

That's for sure. I was hoping they would give hardcore gamers at least one game, but we got nothing, unless GTA on DS counts.

Thought this summed up Nintendo pretty well.
Yeah I was disappointed too. No Kid Icarus, no Pikmin. I like Animal Crossing but I need to work out if I can be bothered getting back into it again. The MotionPlus thing doesn't interest me, and I couldn't care less about Wii Sports/Music.

http://www.penny-arcade.com/images/2008/20080716.jpgSums up all 3 in my opinion, and further reinstates my argument with Icersau last night on MSN. 360 is for casual gamers was his argument, mine was that 360 is for hardcore otaku cinematographer hipster mum vocalists. Word for word. WORD FOR WORD.
Thought this summed up Nintendo pretty well.
Poor Sony. They'd be amazed at what solid release dates can do. I don't even see any information on SOCOM... This really makes me think that the game is crap, as it's due out in two months (only a little over a year late) and it was their debut shooter for their PS2 Online service. Seriously, where's the hype? If it's as good as the first games, it will kill Killzone 2.
GUYS 360 IS NOW COMPLETELY FOR CASUALS BECAUSE THEY ARE TRYING TO CATER TO A WIDER AUDIENCE.

Finally some good news for hardcore gamers, at a Q&A session, Miyamoto confirmed that Pikmin 3 is being made, but they're not ready to reveal it to the public just yet.

I am pretty sure we all knew that it was coming, people want something to look at.

Same situation for Zelda. Obviously there's one in the works for both DS and Wii. How hard is it to make a CG trailer for one? They're rolling in the cash, where's the love.
Wii MotionPlus looks ZOMG-worthy, but other than that.. Meh.
Pikmin 3 confirmation is very nice, though.
