No extra features for late 2007 Wii
Wii

A follow-up to yesterday's earlier report that Nintendo is planning a minor update to the Wii system to support DVD movie playback. While the news quickly started wild rumours across the net of possible extra features planned - Nintendo in a recent Nsider Q&A has stated that this DVD revision of the Wii is expected not include any new features, appearance or extras.
All this DVD-enabled Wii console will probably include is the facility to play back DVD movies. Maybe disappointingly to some, they've stated that the current Wii will not have any hardware or software update to enable DVD playback either.
So essentially, if you want DVD playback facilities down the track, you'll have to purchase another Wii system. This of course doesn't count out 3rd party support offering this feature via software at some point.
