400,000 N-Gage Decks sold in two weeks.
In a telephone interview yesterday with Reuters, Ilkka Raiskinen, senior vice president entertainment and media at Nokia Mobile Phones revealed that the N-Gage has sold a total of 400,000 units worldwide in two weeks.
Analysts are not impressed with the inital sales of the N-Gage unit with one financial analyst at Harris Nesbitt Gerard in New York stating:
"For a global number it's not a huge quantity. Their market is going to be best in regions like Europe and Asia where sales to consumers is strong. In the United States, Nokia will still need to address issues such as the high price."
Admittedly Ilkka Raiskinen knows that Nokia need to improve their retail presence:
"We need to improve our retail presence. Most (consumers) still go the telecoms sales channels to buy an N-Gage,"
Sales were "very good" in the Europe and Asia Pacific region where the bulk of the 40,000 units were sold.
