Every now and then, we head up to Blockbuster on Tuesdays to take advantage of their $2.95 New Release offer. This week we grabbed Kane & Lynch: Dead Men and MX vs ATV: Untamed. Two average titles that we didn't get sent, so decided to catch up on.

Upon looking at the back of the DVD case, we noticed something that has grabbed our eye in the past but never really caused us to say, "What in the world is that?" The time has come to find out exactly what these genres are, as we really don't understand the acronyms.

For Kane & Lynch: Dead Mean, the genre is AAD.

For MX vs ATV: Untamed, the genre is DRRA.

Enlarge the pictures to see for yourself.

It's fairly obvious that the blurb is copied from the official gaming sites, but we really are baffled by their genre categories. If it's to order them better in the Blockbuster database, why do they put it on the back of the DVD case?

We're calling on all readers to find out what these genres are, and why Blockbuster are using them.

DRRA = driving/racing, AAD = action/adventure.

Why can't they just put Racing, or Action..

I thought AAD was Action ADventure... but I associate that genre with stuff like Assassin's Creed, Prince of Persia, Zelda, etc., not war simulators.

DRRA had me stumped though. They really should just have that as Racing like Dave said.

They probably just stick any action or adventure game in AAD. As to the other one not all driving games involve racing.
