Outlaw Volleyball Soundtrack Announced

Viacom's digital entertainment unit, Simon & Schuster Interactive and Sumthing Else Musicworks announced today that the soundtrack for the highly anticipated Xbox game "Outlaw Volleyball" will be shipping in early July 2003.

Executive Produced by music veteran Nile Rodgers (Madonna "Like A Virgin," Duran Duran "The Reflex," and many others), the soundtrack will feature fresh, new artists such as Diffuser, Off By One, and Warrior (Shipping: July 8).

For decades Nile Rodgers has been known for spotting new trends and opportunities in music. "Videogames are essentially a showcase for new talent," said Rodgers. "It's a great opportunity to get up and coming talent in front of new ears. With the music business in disarray, this is a great way to break future bands."

"With today's new audiences spending more and more time playing video games, it only seemed logical to team up with the labels and create an original soundtrack," said Peter von Schlossberg, vice president of marketing and sales for Viacom's Simon & Schuster Interactive unit. "Together with Nile, we took it a step further using Outlaw Volleyball as a vehicle to break new music rather than just to create a compilation soundtrack of published songs."
