PlayStation 2 To Be Released April 2004 In China

Sony today revealed they plan to release PlayStation 2 in China by April 2004. The reasoning behind not releasing the console until just now is due to concerns over Piracy.

"We are likely to introduce PlayStation 2 and related games in the mainland Chinese market in fiscal 2003 which ends on March 31, 2004" said Koichiro Katsurayama, company spokesperson for Sony. "We will continue to invest in China's mainland which is the growth engine for our East Asia businesses."
