PlayStation 3 Finally Off the Starting Blocks
PS3
Despite the controversy surrounding the PS3 launch in Japan and the US, Sony have enjoyed a successful January with record revenues flooding in.
Even though the PlayStation 3 was placed in third place in the US by units sold, Sony still managed to take in US $550 million in January, a very nice figure.
However, despite this success, Sony's PlayStation 2 outsold the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, with nearly 300,000 units sold.
"With supply levels stabilising, you can expect to see increased marketing for PS3 and PS2 in weekly retail circulars, which should garner strong numbers, boosted by big software launches, such as MotorStorm and Virtua Fighter 5," said David Karraker, director of corporate communications over at SCEA.
The Slice: Seems like stock stabilisation and marketting are finally starting to pay off for Sony, especially after the lacklustre launch period.
