PlayStation Home To Be Released in October
PS3
Sony have (unofficially, thanks to a leaked PDF from the Sony dev site) announced that their ambitious PlayStation Home will be released in October this year. As well as this, the PDF also mentioned that the initial download will weigh in at "under 500MB".
Subsequent updates and patches will be handled by a "streaming solution" (which could very well be compared to Valve's Steam service", one "that makes them (patches) negligible".
15,000 users will get their hands on PlayStation Home during Sony's closed beta session, which will start in April and end in August. After this, 50,000 users will take over in an open beta that will last until the title launches in October.
Other info hinted at in the PDF include some details about the advertising content in the title, as well as some as yet unfinished features. One such notable one is the notion of persistance (that is, so that users can check out your apartment when you're not around).
