PlayTV to Launch in Australia November 26th
PS3

Sony has announced that the much talked about PlayTV personal PVR device will be launched in Australia on November 26th, just in time for the Christmas period. The device is an addon for the PS3, which allows users to watch, pause, and record digital HDTV or SDTV using the PS3 hard drive and PS3 interface.
The best part about the unit is that it contains a twin HDTV tuner, allowing users to watch one TV channel, while recording another. Users can also continue to watch Blu-Ray movies, or even play games while the PlayTV is recording. The unit comes with an integrated seven day Electronic Programme Guide, and everything can be upgraded via software updates in future.
For those with a PSP or Sony-Ericsson's AINO Phone, they can also watch stream the TV signal to their devices remotely.
The PlayTV will be released with an RRP here in Australia for $169.95.
Sliced Comments: Things are really heating up in the non-gaming media space on both consoles. The PlayTV seems like excellent value considering a good PC dual HDTV tuner costs around $200. The ability to upgrade easily could make the PlayTV+PS3 one of the most popular PVR's out there.
